The “Protection community for general credit protection” – better known as credit bureau – is the largest credit reference agency in Germany. With a credit bureau information companies want to determine the willingness to pay and creditworthiness of their potential contractors. credit bureau collects corresponding data about every consumer. But the stored data is not always correct. Therefore, many people can provide a self-report or a data overview in order to be able to find out what information is stored on their own person.
The credit bureau self-information
Incorrect data can then be corrected if necessary. The self-information is thus intended for data control for the person concerned. It contains data that is not intended for third parties. This includes former home addresses, bank accounts, mobile phone contracts, leases, loans, mail order businesses, other contracts. Furthermore, the payment behavior and the payment amounts are also registered.
The difference between a credit bureau data overview and the credit bureau self / personal information
Every citizen is entitled to free self-assessment once a year. According to § 34 of the Federal Data Protection Act, there is the right to see this data stored about one’s own person. Once a year, you can make use of it without having to pay any processing fees. Also, an influence on the score does not have this request. Important: If you visit www.meinecredit bureau.de, the free version is listed under the menu item “Data overview according to § 34 BDSG”.
This can lead to the inadvertent selection of the paid version. So be careful here. The self-assessment is only for your own documents and contains data that are not suitable for third parties. For a submission to a contractual partner, however, the fee-based credit information comes into question. It contains two documents, one of which is for business partners. This variant costs 18.50 euros fees. The document is watermarked and informs the counterparty only if there are any defaults or loans.
The different types of credit bureau self-disclosure
It follows from the above that, for example, for landlords or for banks, the pure self-disclosure is not suitable. The credit report is intended for this purpose. What is interesting for landlords, above all, whether rental debt exist. However, this is generally not explicitly registered in the credit bureau if there is no enforceable court title or if the landlord with whom the rent is due is not a member of the credit bureau. Who needs a Mietschulddenfreiheitheitsbescheinigung, must turn to his landlord.
